the benefits of regular massage

Massage can be an effective treatment for migraine headaches.  Getting regular massage treatments can reduce your dependence on painkillers by as much as 36 percent.

Massage therapy has become extremely popular because it not only helps in relaxation of the body but is also used as a preventative treatment option for various ailments. The benefits of massage based therapy are wide and varied. For lower back pain, for instance, massage work better than spinal modification and acupuncture. A massage will lessen your reliance on painkillers by as much as 36%. Headaches, particularly migraines, can also be controlled using massages and have been shown to help people sleep better. In osteoarthritis patients, massages are effective against fatigue and nausea, swelling, and pain. The side effects of the treatment for cancer are also relieved or controlled to a certain extent when massages are used as complementary treatment. A large number of studies reveal the efficacy of massages against anxiety and depression.

Massage makes your brain’s chemical makeup change.  These changes help reduce both pain and stress levels in your body.  Studies have been done that indicate massage offers a boost to your immune system which allows your body to ward off diseases more easily.  This happens because massage promotes the increase of the de-stressors.  Studies have shown that massage can decrease your body’s cortisol levels.  Cortisol is triggered by stress and it attacks your body’s immune system so decreasing your stress levels can only help you stay healthy.

Massage can bring down your blood pressure level.  This comes about because massage sets off the vagus nerve which is responsible for helping the brain regulate the levels of your blood pressure and other vital bodily functions.

Studies have shown massage to be helpful for:

Anxiety, digestive disorders, fibromyalgia, headaches, insomnia related to stress, myofascial pain syndrome, soft tissue strains or injuries, sports injuries and temporomandibular joint pain.

Winter skincare tips

Winter skin is caused by the dry, cold air outside coupled with the heat in your home. Ten tips to help with winter skin include seeking a specialist. Going to an esthetician even once is a good investment. Such a specialist can analyze your skin type, troubleshoot your current skin care regimen and give advice on the best skin care products to use.

At spavia day spa, our specialist will provide a complimentary skin assessment so we can provide result-driven, customized solutions for your skin.

Another factor to consider are the dead skin cells. They keep moisturizer from sinking in. A customized facial from spavia day spa will help clear away dead skin cells and infuse moisture in your skin. Hand and feet also suffer tremendously during the winter months. We offer hand and foot treatments to go along with your facial to help hydrate as well. Our Fijian hand and foot treatment helps to buff away dry, dead skin and leave your hands and feet feeling incredibly soft and smooth.

spavia austin

I do not have enough good things to say about this spa. I was looking for a spa close to my apartment and decided to try Spavia and could not have lucked out more. First, the staff in the front is so friendly and while you wait there is tea, warm neck pillows, and adult coloring books (I left some artwork there). I went for a facial and had Dana. She was so nice and made me feel comfortable. The facial was amazing, so amazing I kept dozing off. Only complaint was that she sometimes didn’t apply enough pressure but I think it may have been because at the beginning we were talking about massages and I said I’m a baby and always ask for less pressure. I will definitely be going back to Dana specifically and I’ll just ask for a little more pressure. Highly recommend Spavia!
